About Kristina Ivancova
Kristína was born in Vranov nad Topľou, Slovakia – a country where hockey runs deep – and grew up watching Slovakia compete in the World Championships. She always thought the sport was cool, but it wasn’t until she joined the Nottingham Mavericks development team at university that she finally got the chance to try it. Six years later, she’s playing for Invicta Dynamics and working as a valuations analyst at an accounting firm in Kent.
Ice Hockey Career
Kristína started out as a forward but switched to defence after trying it out with the Dynamics – and discovered she enjoyed it far more. After moving to Kent, Invicta was the best option available, and what she found was a team that genuinely supports each other on and off the ice. Her idol growing up was the Slovak national team itself, which says everything about where her love of the game comes from.
Career Highlights
Her most memorable moment on the ice came in front of a sold-out crowd at Alexandra Palace – the kind of occasion that reminds you exactly why you play.
Life Away From Ice Hockey
Off the ice, Kristína is passionate about houseplants and freely admits that hockey is basically her whole personality – she tells everyone about it. If she wasn’t playing, she’d probably be getting very strong at the gym. Her teammates would describe her as funny, reliable, and solid D – hopefully.
