About Hayley Slaytor
Hayley Foster’s hockey origin story is unlike most. Growing up in Barbados, she fell in love with the sport through NHL 2000 on PlayStation — and with no teams or clubs available to her, she took to playing roller hockey outside her house with her brother and sister.
Years later, when she discovered women’s ice hockey teams existed, she couldn’t get on the ice fast enough.
Ice Hockey Career
Now a Multimedia Specialist based in Crystal Palace, Hayley brings five years of ice time to Invicta’s defence, having previously spent several seasons with Streatham Storm.
Making the move wasn’t easy — Storm was all she knew, and loyalty runs deep — but she’ll be the first to tell you she wishes she’d joined Invicta sooner.
What keeps her here is the people. Players, coaches, and everyone working behind the scenes — she counts them among the best she’s ever known.
On the ice, she’s a classic defender in every sense: she reads the game, tracks shoulder drops, and gets genuine satisfaction from every interception and poke check.
Her idol is Caroline Harvey from the USA.
Career Highlights
Her most memorable moments are every single dive she’s made to block the puck.
Life Away From Ice Hockey
Away from the rink, Hayley paints and draws — portraits, comic art, charcoal — and gets out surfing when she can. She grew up in Barbados (yes, really), and if she wasn’t playing hockey, she’d be hurtling down a Skeleton track somewhere.
Her teammates would describe her as — not submitted / unknown.
